What Is a Parish Nurse?
 
A parish nurse is a licensed registered nurse called by God to meet the needs of the congregation through caring for them in mind, body and spirit.  The parish nurse has the desire to serve those in his/her care in navigating the maze of health care.

Role of the Parish Nurse
 
Integrator of Faith & Health
Promotes a wholistic approach to health & wellness in caring for mind, body & spirit
Support Group Facilitator Initiates and maintains health-related support groups
Personal Health Counselor
Provides guidance and information relating to physical and
spiritual health
Health Educator Provides health education programming and screenings
Referral Source Provides information and helps church members access community resources
Volunteer Coordinator
Recruits and directs volunteers in meeting the health and spiritual needs of the congregation

Meet our Parish Nurse
 

Stephanie was raised in Atlanta, GA. She married and moved to Florida in 1983. She and her husband have twin daughters. She has been a member of the Grace family for two years.
 
She attended BCC where she earned her nursing degree and has worked at Cape Canaveral Hospital, PCU/Cardiac Unit for eight years.   Other activities include Tiger Team Co-Chair, a hospital based committee; the mission is to educate the staff and public about organ & tissue donation. In addition, she serves as the Florida Nursing Association District 32 Treasurer.
 
“As a nurse and a member of our church, I am confident I am acting in God’s plan for me. I pray each of you will know his healing presence in your life and I look forward to sharing this journey with you.”
